The most perfect time of the year to stage an event for serious Koi enthusiasts. It is the cooler water temperatures that show the best pigmentation and the same cooler water makes transportation much safer with little chance of female Koi releasing their eggs. Of course, the Japanese have been well aware of this for as long as I can recall.

(This Koi swept the board on the very first stage of judging, I cannot say for sure but I have never come across this decision being made final on the first round stage before. Will check into this and advise.)

(MORE ON CARP, KOI AND COLD WATER TEMPERATURES)

Having recently had my mouth taped up yet again in an attempt to try and save a few more Koi during UK cold water periods by way of a commercial Koi Magazine forum who really also should be trying to do the very same thing  –  to hell with that, I’ll post things on here because things NEED to be said. However, on here I do not need to incorporate ‘niceties’, only the FACTS. Some of this is on my ‘Winter Warning’ page, I’ve titled this a ‘Winter Warming’.

For the first time in many years Koi enthusiasts have put their necks on the line to stage a competitive Koi event purely for like-minded Koi keepers and this is what this landmark event will prove to be.
